Warbirds Open Day at Ardmore, 3 June 2012

The New Zealand Warbirds Association held an open day at Ardmore today commemorating D-Day.  The day seemed to be well attended.

I could only get there late in the day when the sun was not helpful for photos. However, I offer the following for a taste of the aircraft that were there.

Miles M 38 Messenger IIA ZK-CMM performed a spirited display.

Taxying in....

And past a WW 2 style hangar....

To take part in an interesting and colourful line-up of Beaver, Isaacs Fury replica, Miles Magister and Ryan STM.

Strikemaster NZ 6370 (ZK-STR) was back in its proper colour scheme (post V day?), with the Warbirds Skyhawk NZ 8209 behind.

Tiger Moth NZ 841 (ZK-ALM).

Three of the 6-Harvard demonstration flight taxying in.  Here, NZ1057.

NZ 1065.

NZ 1098.

Finally the magnificent Yak 3M ZK-VVS gave and impressive display before landing...

And taxying in to close the show.

There were more than 20 ex-military or pseudo-military aircraft on display.   A nice way to pass a Sunday afternoon.
